Pre-race fun!

Quick Update

Sorry I am soooo bad at updating this lately...woops!

I am in the capital right now finishing up my week of standard Peace Corps medical exams to make sure I am healthy enough to stay in Nam for another year...that is right, I have decided to stay in Namibia for another year!

I will be a PCVL (peace corps volunteer leader) and will work for a youth organization called OYO. My job will be working with other PCVs (helping with trainings, being there for support and working with the PC staff) on the PC side. And with OYO, I will be moving around a lot, working in schools and developing programs to build self esteem and prevent HIV. I am really really excited about both of my jobs! The only down side is I have to move and leave my village. I am really sad about that, but I think it will be OK.

Other than that, I am just trying to finish up everything at school. It is going to be really hard to say goodbye to my learners and teachers and people I have gotten to know in the village, but it is nice to know that I will be able to visit next year. So I am just reminding myself of that as I start packing everything up!

On a side note, I am running in a half marathon this weekend in Swakop. I am splitting the marathon with my friend (another PCV) and I am really excited and also a bit nervous! There are quite a few vols running either the half or the full and a lot more coming to support, so it should be fun!

I will try to post pictures after the race :)
