Long run friends

These two little cuties ran with me for my first long run (I'm just starting to train for my first half marathon). The older one lagged behind for a lot of the run, but the little one kept up the whole time. I think that speaks volumes to my slow slow running, but, in my defense, village children were born to run...even if they are only 4 or 5 years old!

Running buddies

Here are some kiddos I picked up on the last 5 minutes of my run. They are practicing their stretches!

The walk home

Walking home after a really fun day out on the Damara homestead! I think this was one of my best nam (and american) days!

Cooking over the fire

The learner whose house we are at wakes up at 4:30 am to start the fire, milk the goat and make tea and porridge (traditional white fluffy african food made out of a ground maize) all before making the half hour walk to school where he gets straight A's (he studies by candle light at night). I always feel lazy whenever I hear about his busy day!
